I am a cute thing from Spain, Malaga to be precise. I can handle heat and drought, I can handle going without food for days and I don't even need to drink much. I can handle being used (and mistreated badly) for hunting and being locked up in barns for days wihtout end and I can definately handle all the love I get in my new home (well, I have been here for quite some years now). But I will not, I repeat, I WILL NOT be snowed upon!
Luckily my woman let me back in the house and an hour later we tried again (when the snow flakes were actually a whole lot bigger). And I have to admit that it wasn't all that bad. Allright... it was great! Sniffing and running all over the place and my woman said I looked rather beautiful with that white cover on my coat.
So all is well that ends well. Waiting for the next time it will snow cats and dogs!

Hello reader, it is I, Andy the Dachshund. Knight in shining armour
As my woman always says (I personally, I think it is beautifully said) I am her first born. You can understand how grant I feel because of this. She calls me her knight in shining armour and her prince. Also 'Young God' or Adonis is something she likes to say to me a lot. You can understand I hope how this makes a Dachshund heart sing of joy!
My life hadn't been all that great. Nobody knows for sure what happened, well, nobody except me, but I don't like to talk about it. Anyway, at one point I was found wondering the streets of Rotterdam. I had probably walked away from home because it was no good for me there. Being a dachshund and all, you gotta make your own decisions and stick with them. Some nice people of the shelter picked me up, gave me food and a dry place to sleep. And for months and months I stayed there. Other dogs would come and go, but not me. Thing is, you know, my ears don't work. I don't know any better because it has probably been like this all my life. But the thing with shelters is, you have to show yourself to the visitors, so they can make a pick. But I was asleep all the time, underneath my blanket. Safe and warm and dreaming of heaven. So nobody ever saw me...
Until this one day. I was woken up and untangled from my blanket. In my cage was this cute young thang and she wanted to go for a walk with me! I didn't know what to do! Being a bit of a matured (or older as some say, but I prefer matured) man I wanted to keep my dignity but I was flabbergasted at the same time. I couldn't look at the girl, because it would show my vulnerability, but boy did I ran! I galloped and pied as high as I could, to show this girl what a great guy I am! Literally I mean! I might be a Dachshund, but chase away the biggest of dogs. GRRRR WRAF WRAF!! I will stand on my hind legs and show you where to go you big floppy dog! It is I, Andy! Be aware!
After my then to be woman explained the people in the shelter how she had read about me (appearently the shelter people had put an add online about me, saying: Who will give this old boy a few good last years of his life? And she had completely fallen for it. Fallen for me! She told the story many a times since, so I remember quite well what she said: One day she had read the add about me and she cried a bit. It touched her deep in her heart and she wasn't sure if her life suited a dog. She travelled a lot, worked in a restaurant, didn't plan ahead and she lived right in the middle of the city. And then the next day, as she was walking to town, she looked at her right side and told herself that Andy might as well be walking there along side with her. So she turned around, canceled her appointment and headed over to the shelter to get me!
We did a little walk together, to see if we fit each other and then she decided to take me home! I jumped in her car as if I had done so all my life and the first thing I did when she opened the door to the house was run around, find the bed and jump on it! I was home at last!
I'm sure you understand how my woman made me very happy, but I also gave her happiness back you know! When I sleep, I make sure to snore a little bit because this makes her happy. She used to feel alone sometimes, especially during the nights and I solved this problem for her! She now loved coming back home and spending the night with me. We went on so many walks, day and night! We ran together thru the streets in the middle of the night. Just the two of us, the rest was gone to sleep.
There is much more to this story, but I now need to take my woman out for a walk. Being a Dachshund, I don't really feel like going for a walk, but it seems to make my sister Emilie and my woman very happy. So why not please them and go along. At my own speed (or slow as you might say) of course. And also... I refuge to walk somewhere where we have to walk the same way back. I need to walk in circles, otherwise I stiff up all my 4 gorgeous leggs and the woman will have to drag me over the streets or carry me. I'm easy going and a pleaser as you can tell!
Well wraf wraf and smell you next time!
p.s. As you can see I'm not quite a 100% official Dachshund by the looks of it, even though I think it's all the other Dachshunds that look a bit funny... But if you would measure my behaviour, you could only come to the conclusion I am 1000% Dachshund baby!

I am dog
I am dog.
And me too!! I am dog too!!
That's right. You are dog too.
We are Andy and Emilie, two very happy -used-to-be-shelter-dogs. We have seen winters come and pass and therefor we feel wise as dogs can be.
Dogs come in all sizes and colors, but this doesn't matter to us though. The very smallest of dogs (no, I do not mean myself, me Andy) can feel big and brave, while the biggest of dogs can feel petite and a tiny tat unsure. Size does not matter. (except of course when you know there is a lovely sausage out there, but it is just out of reach. Or, when you follow your nose chasing a rabbit through narrow holes in the fence. Of course, in practical situations like this, size does matter. That is why we dogs like to work in teams, also called a pack. With one small dog (me Andy, allthough I do want to point out I am not the smallest of dogs) and a bigger dog (me me me Emilie!!!) many size affected problems can be easily solved.)
Colour issues seem very strange to us Dogs. We advice you people to solve all the strange matters concerning colours of hair and skin by mixing it all up a whole lot more. A black dot here, a white dot there and a cute strange brownish dot overthere.
Dogs also don't have religion problems, except maybe that we don't like that so many muslim people are so afraid of us. Really people, we might smell a little (rather nice if you ask me...) and yes, we do lick our own arseholes but we are nice creatures! We bark some, pee a bit and pooh outside, but this doesn't make us bad dogs!
We dogs, we like all gods. And Angels! And really nice people! That's Emilie, she is a girl and believes in Angels! ha ha! But seriously, we don't have problems with any religions, as long as we can just be what we are; Dogs.
Right,
We thought it would be nice to share our dogvision about all kinds of every day and special day events. If you like to follow our stories or feel a bit like a dog too (scratching publicly, peeing outdores, sniffing nice asses you pass along your way or eating from the streets) link our blog and we will send you info from time to time.
My lady Roos asks all people who have some photos from me and Emilie to send it to her, as she has lost her computer (due to: 1) hitting computer no.1 2) laptop no.2 and digicam was stolen.
We really appreciate fanmail!
We send you many thanks and smellie licks. Wraf Wraf!!!
Remember!!! many dogs wait for a loving owner in the many shelters around the world.
